Internships may be combined with volunteer positions such as a Personal Shopper in Harriet’s Closet or Child Care Assistant or Youth Outreach Center Advocate to fulfill school requirements.     Resource Counseling Advocates are responsible for providing crisis intervention, supportive counseling, general information, and referral services to individuals who call or come into Tubman.

  • Tubman East

    This position is ideal for someone who is looking to further their experience of crisis intervention, direct service, and advocacy in the setting of a residential shelter. Working one-on-one with individuals and families, Adult & Family Advocates foster a trusting relationship with our clients to encourage peaceful relationships and goal attainment.

    Help make a kid’s summer fun! Day Camp Counselors/Youth Advocates in Tubman’s Peace Camp help organize fun activities and field trips for children currently living in our shelters. Supervise outdoor, playground games and crafts. Provide respite childcare and spend time with kids going through a time of transition. Gain experience in child and youth advocacy and early intervention with children.

    As part of Tubman's Development and Communications team, the Grant Writing Intern will help research grant opportunities, assist in writing proposals and reports, while gaining valuable skills in grant writing in a non-profit organization.
    Time commitment to this position is a minimum of 6 months.

    The Safety Project Intern assists Tubman’s Safety Project staff in providing free representation for low income, domestic violence victims seeking attorneys for Orders for Protection and providing assistance for staff with administrative tasks, data entry, and communications.

  • Tubman East
    ---------------------------------
    Make a difference in a young person’s life by working in the Safe Journeys Shelter, a dedicated floor of Tubman’s Maplewood shelter location that serves youth and young adults of all genders who have been exposed to relationship violence, dating violence, sexual assault and/or stalking, including individuals who are homeless, runaways, or have experienced sex trafficking.
